About Me

Hi! I’m the Financial Freedom Engineer. I like travelling, exercise, learning how things work and engineering (of course!). I’m a designer, a dreamer, a hard worker and I’m chasing my goal of being financially independent before I turn 40.

My desire for financial independence came to me a long time ago, I’d say mid-way through high school. Observing how most people lived their working lives I realised that wouldn’t like the idea of spending 30 or 40 years of my life with limited control over how I spend my time. The idea that you join the workforce in your 20s; work until you’re 65 and retire to a life of freedom didn’t appeal to me. I wanted freedom sooner than that, much sooner.

So suddenly, I had a goal and it was time to start making it happen. This desire would lay the foundations for my design, it was time to engineer my freedom.

Fast forward 15 years or so and I’ve done a whole bunch of grown up things like get myself education; a job and a financial planning hobby. I’m in my early 30s and I am riding the wave of effort that is propelled by my financial independence dream.

With the support of my wife we’ve paid off our house and are investing over 50% of our take home income on our way to financial freedom, retirement, working by choice…   ….whatever you wish to call it!

I want to use this blog to share some of my own personal finance knowledge in order to help people get their own conversations started about personal finance.
